Getting her room ready…and TaDa!!!

I’m not a huge planner, well, God has broken me of that over the years. But it’s been killing me to be getting so close to my due date (only four days away!!) and not feeling like the room is ready. In fact, I may have had a break down or two recently, where my husband had to sweetly remind me our baby girl will be just fine if she’s born and the  bumper pads aren’t ready, or heaven forbid the changing table isn’t done. I’m not so sure. Ha. So, the last few weeks we’ve been busy-yes we-as I have all sorts of things/ideas of how I want her room to be. My poor husband is going from one project to the next, assembling something every other day practically. But he’s been a great sport about it, and it’s been fun for both of us to work on getting everything ready. And the strange part? It’s not just her room I want in perfect order… this whole nesting thing is pretty ridiculous. Oh sure it’s great to have a perfectly spotless fridge, floor matts you can eat dinner off of, sliding doors so clean you run into. But it’s exhausting! I can’t help myself. Brandon finds it pretty entertaining, until it sucks him in, and he finds himself fixing or assembling this and that. It’s been so fun!!!

So here are a few shots of the room and the things we’ve been working on.

Brandon assembling the swing we got-from our shower in the states! People gave money for us to get things here,(since it’s just too hard and expensive to ship it here) it was so fun to go out and buy the things we wanted!! Thank you to so many of you who gave- allowing us to get the things we needed/wanted for her nursery !!
My Aunt Karen made this beautiful bumper pad to go with the amazing quilt she made!! And the smart thing was she didn’t stuff it, so I could actually get it into a suitcase and back to Nicaragua! It’s been a challenge finding the right material though, but I finally did, and used velcro to close up the bottom. It’s looks so cute!
Assembling puff balls that my mother in law gave me from the shower-they are so fun!!
Brandon hanging those, and fun purple lanterns him mom gave us too! I love it!
This is the man who made the changing table for us. We showed him a picture and he copied it exactly! I love it! (and he made this cute little table for our water)
His workshop right down the street

My aunt had some leftover fabric, so I was wondering what I could do with it. The problem is, I’m not a sewer. I enjoy making crafts, sure, but sewing is  a whole different ball game. I needed curtains for her room, and thought maybe I could find someone to help me. Turns out, a sweet new friend, Maria, is an amazing seamstress! And she was so happy to help me make curtains! In fact, we did it in one afternoon! I could not have done it without her, and the help of her daughter too. Isabela is only eight, and yet she already knows how to sew. It was pretty cute when I would get stuck, all I had to to was ask her! She was a pretty cute little teacher! And you will never, ever believe this: Maria and her family lived in Haiti! For almost three years too-at almost at the same time as us! We never knew them, it is a big country, kinda of, and they were down in the south, in the Jacmel area, so pretty far from us. But can you believe that?? We met them here, and couldn’t believe that we had that in common!!  It’s crazy, and we are loving getting to know them and their family.

Maria and her daughter Isabela
I had to document me actually sewing-otherwise you might not believe that I did it !!

Look how cute they are-all thanks to Maria and her skills!!
The curtains in her room… aren’t they so cute??!

All of it put together, equals one pretty fun girly baby room!! YAY !! Now, maybe I feel a little more ready and perhaps she’ll be coming soon?? Who knows, we are only about four days from my due date, which is February 26th! Even though due dates are so arbitrary, she will come, and it will be soon. Can’t wait to meet this baby girl!!

The cutest crib ever, thanks to the amazing love and skills of my aunt Karen!!

From the doorway…

The super cute changing table!

More fun in CA.

I had so much fun this last trip home, just hanging out and visiting with everyone. One little guy is particularly excited about his ‘baby cousin’! Taj is two, and from the moment he knew about baby cousin, we would ask him where she is, and he would respond by lifting up my shirt and pointing to my tummy. Which is hilarious in the confines of the house-but slightly awkward when the last time was in Costco and he tried to lift up my shirt-and of course an employee walked by and looked at me like, ‘really lady, no body wants to see that!’ haha. Anyway, this last time we were playing with his bouncy basketball, and he was trying to stuff it in his shirt to look like aunt Jess! We about died laughing!

So this is Taj, with his own baby cousin!

I about died when he stuffed this ball under his shirt to look like aunt Jess!!

Taj and I just hanging out with our big bellies !!

Girls Weekend Away !! What a treat it was to have my sister in town, so we took full advantage and planned a little girls weekend get away trip-my mom, Ashley, and my sister. We stayed close by, but it was so fun to have some girl time! Especially since it’s a rare treat to get us all together in the same location!

We hiked Torrey Pines all along the coast, it was so beautiful.
More time at the beach…it was such nice weather! And so nice to soak up time with my mom.

We went to the movies-super luxury style! It’s this new thing where they have lazy boy recliners, serve food and even dessert! What a fun new idea, we had a great time!
Ashley and mom enjoying their comfy seats in this swanky theater!
More family time, with my little brother. He just got a job with Poway Fire Department! It was so fun to see him get hired and crazy too-he’s all grown up!!
And what do us ladies do best together? Eat! Had a great time meeting friends- Tina and Kelly here-such sweet girls I’m so thankful for!

Me and my girlfriends daughter, Jolie, having fun going through her hat drawer-she has some super fun hats! She’s such a sweet little girl!! What a treat to come home and see her growing up!

Baby showers-take two!

My amazing mother in law, Marva, and two dear sister in laws, Kelsey and Cortney, really out did themselves. They had been working and scheming for weeks, and you could tell!. There was so much love and attention poured into every little thing, it was so fun to see it all unfold! Since the shower was at my mother-laws beautiful home, and I was staying there for my visit home, they were so sweet and didn’t banish me from the house, but rather let me hang out and watch the loveliness unfold!  I loved being around all the day before, soaking up all the the creative things going up all around me! The best part was they knew I was doing her room in purple, so they somehow managed to find all sorts of girly delightful things in that lovely lavender shade! I mean, I’m talking everything-from plates, to the cutest party favors ever-nailpolish-all different shades of purple, and hanging puff balls and lanterns (which they gave me afterwards and are now hanging in her room!!)…everything was purple!

I cannot even tell you how blessed I am to have married into this family. I am reminded of this fact often, but today was extra special. The excitement over this baby girl has been non stop, and the shower was another way for them to show it! Marva has been praying for grand babies since the moment Brandon and I said I do-almost ten years ago now! She has been so excited and anxious to have grand babies, and when we told her as newlyweds we were on the ‘five year’ plan, it about killed her, but she begrudgingly accepted…but I’m convinced secretly prayed that birth control wouldn’t work! But as we began to try, and we finally stared that things weren’t happening in the timing that we wanted, she started praying! She did get her first grand baby from Brandon’s sister Kelsey, a sweet little guy named Taj, who is two now! As so, her joy is multiplied to have another grand baby on the way, and this time a girl! She didn’t hold back either-it was so girly, frilly, and lovely!

The shower was perfect, and it was such a joy to celebrate with everyone!

It was pretty funny, both Marva and Kelsey were giving me a hard time, saying that ‘baby’ could have said her name, but since we are waiting to say her name until she is born, ‘baby’ had to due! They still tried to get the name out of me all weekend!!
Marva and Kelsey hard at work-and sweet cousin Taj there to help too!

Julie and Alicia Faumuina. Alicia hand made the sweetest treasures for our baby girl, including

a blanket, beanies, headbands, leg warmers!! and even some fancy onuses! I was amazed at her

talent and how she found the time with two little guys at home too!

Aunt Kate and Grandma-well, soon to be great grandma to this baby girl! She made the most delicious chocolate dipped strawberries!!
The oh SO excited grandma’s to be!! They are grinning just as much as me!!
Me and Brandon’s sweet aunt Barbie!
The amazing hostesses-Marva, Cortney, and Kelsey. Oh they are so precious to me!!
Marva did the same thing at this shower-hoping we would get all the bigger items on our ‘wish list’. She actually made these little envelopes with photos of me and the items we wanted on it! It was so creative! And again Brandon and I were so amazed at how willing people were to go something different, and so thankful of how generous everyone was! We got many of the larger items we wanted for her room! Thank you!!
Isn’t that just perfect??
One of my most favorite things-they had nailpolish as party favors! My favorite thing ever, nailpolish, and they home made tags that said, “It’s a girl” on them!! SO creative and thoughtful!

Oh how my heart was so full after those two showers. What a blessing to be so loved on, spoiled, and pampered by family and friends!!
